Will Insley: Foundations ONECITY
WESTWOOD GALLERY NYC presents a solo exhibition of shaped paintings by New York artist Will Insley (1929–2011), curated by James Cavello. This is the first exhibition of the artist's work following his death in 2011.
The exhibition showcases large, modular wall fragments created in the 1960s that preface the next several decades of Insley's practice devoted to ONECITY, a mythological civilization expressed through drawings, models, and paintings. Insley’s geometric wall fragments merge art, reality, fiction, and order, while revealing insights into the pursuits that would come to dominate the his artistic practice.
