Overview
An array of colorful paintings comprised of a grid of squares in iridescent colors displayed on a white wall
Steve Silver, Palisades (2010-11)

Westwood Gallery NYC presents Steve Silver: Empirical Horizons, the first solo exhibition in a decade for Brooklyn-based painter Steve Silver, on view from September 5 – November 2, 2024.

Curated by James Cavello, the exhibition presents thirty-four works spanning Silver’s 45-year career, highlighting his unique vision within the legacy of New York abstract painting. Known for transforming geometric forms, layered textures, and experimental color into poetic visual meditations, Silver draws inspiration from literature, philosophy, and the shifting perception of light. Empirical Horizons showcases series such as Platagrams and Languages, where Silver blurs the boundaries between painting, sculpture, and poetry.
