In an exhibition important for its history as well as for its curation, curators Erica DiBenedetto and Kelly Montana presented the forgotten history of John and Dominique de Menil’s Dream Monuments project.
The exhibition included proposals and plans submitted by major land artists (among them, Smithson, Dennis Oppenheim, and Robert Morris), as well as drawings by other artists engaged by the de Menils.
Artists included in the exhibition were Alice Aycock, Beverly Buchanan, Mel Chin, Christo, Agnes Denes, Mary Beth Edelson, Barbara Chase-Riboud, Walter De Maria, Gray Foy, Jackie Ferrara, Michael Heizer, Will Insley, Richard Long, Robert Morris, Claes Oldenburg, Dennis Oppenheim, Marta Minujin, Michelle Stuart, Robert Rauschenberg, Robert Smithson.
