The Times in London published an obituary for the late Princess Marianne zu Sayn-Wittgenstein-Sayn, a member of German and Austrian nobility and life-long photographer.
Her photographs of high society and cultural icons were widely exhibited, including solo shows in Salzburg, Vienna, Berlin, and Munich. The first New York restrospective of her collection premiered at Westwood Gallery NYC in 2006.
"Asked why she liked taking photographs, she said: 'I want to keep the memory of a certain face, an expression, a lovely landscape. Also, after my husband died the thing I missed most was being able to say to him, "Darling, look. How interesting.""
Princess Marianne passed away on May 4, 2025 at the age of 105.
