A look inside New York’s historic artist lofts, the last of their kind

Documentary photographer Joshua Charow's speaks with Kyle Almond and CNN about his photographs of artists under the 1982 Loft Law.

“This isn’t just a thing of New York’s past. This is the present,” Charow said. “You can walk down the street and look at a window and you might see (an artist), and they’re still working and they’re still making their paintings and sculptures. I think it’s a beautiful part of our city, that this exists. It took a lot of resilience and ingenuity to stay in these spaces.”
