Originator of the Beatles’ combed down hairstyle, modish collarless jacket suits and, some even credit, the group’s name– the “Fifth Beatle” Stuart Sutcliffe created visual art that would be forever imprinted on the group’s image, even though he was a member only for a short year. Sutcliffe’s designs of the rock icons’ signature haircut and garb are a few of the items in a collection of his art and letters that will be auctioned off at the end of November.
Sutcliffe’s letters, artworks, and sketches are all gathered together in a collection that will be displayed at SoHo’s Westwood Gallery in New York City before it’s auctioned off.
