In honor of Martin Luther King Jr., while the whole world his commemorating the forty anniversary of his assassination, Time Inc Entertainment and Westwood Gallery organized a private party held April 4, to commemorate the man of the social transformation with the release of a new LIFE publication: “Remembering Martin Luther King Jr.” and the second part of Bob Adelman’s solo gallery exhibition. The event opened with a Ruby Dee’s reading of Martin Luther King Jr. words. “Is not the man is the plan,” reminded her. “Is not the rep is the plan,” and, as a background, showed Adelman’s significant work that included iconic portraits of Martin Luther King, Malcolm X, Rosa Parks, and images of civil and social unrest in the street of New York, Washington D.C., Alabama and all the deep South.
