Rocco Alberico at Westwood Gallery

Sara Abrams, The New York Sun, 1 Jul 2003

At first sight, Rocco Alberico’s models seem simple creations–small buildings that resemble birdhouses. But there is a lot more going on. Inside each model is a surreal diorama illuminated by a coil light bulb. On the outside, binocular-like viewers show three dimensional images–a man standing in the woods, piles of rocks. Motorized part and rotating disks also decorate some of his pieces.

Works on view at Westwood Gallery through July 30.
