Jacques Lowe and Hatami at Westwood Gallery

The New York Art World, 1 Jun 1999

Jacques Lowe and Hatami’s exhibition at Westwood Gallery is an ambitious show that brings together the work of two important photojournalists.

Jacques Lowe, widely known for his photo-documentary of the Kennedy administration, is represented here in an extensive sampling from his photo legacy of the jazz world.

Hatami revisits many of the defining moments of the 1960s, offering rare glimpses of the musical group, the Beatles, whose four engaging performers are caught in the act of being themselves, before ascending to the dizzying heights of unprecedented fame.

In an adjoining room, this exhibition also features a selection of vintage photographs of Marlon Brando, Sophia Loren, and Charlie Chaplin, taken on location during the filming of A Countess from Hong Kong.
