Curated by co-owner James Cavello, Westwood Gallery's current exhibition, James Juthstrom: Works on Paper, 1950s, beautifully captures Juthstrom's early exploration of figurative representation and abstraction. Working from the 1950s to the 2000s, Juthstrom (1925-2007) produced drawings, etchings, paintings and works of sculpture. Cavello fills the gallery with some of these compelling drawings, etchings and mixed media works, illustrating the remarkable breadth of skill and imagination Juthstrom displayed so early on in his career.
James Juthstrom: Works on Paper, 1950s will be open until March 24, 2012. Westwood Gallery is located at 568 Broadway, Suite 501 in Manhattan. Their hours are 11 am to 6 pm Tuesday to Saturday.
