In 1962, a young American photographer, Douglas Kirkland, arrived at 31, rue Cambon in Paris and followed Mademoiselle Chanel for three weeks for Look Magazine. Douglas Kirkland became a photographer major of his time and photographed Hollywood's biggest stars, from Marilyn Monroe to Elizabeth Taylor via Marlène Dietrich. His photos of Coco Chanel, which have never been republished since, are today the subject of a book.
The photographs are in New York at the Westwood gallery which exhibited these images.
