Danny Simmons to receive Mural Arts Philadelphia 2023 Visionary Artist Award

For Mural Arts Philadelphia's 2023 annual Wall Ball, Danny Simmons was honored with the Visionary Artist Award alongside Philadelphia's first poet laureate Sonia Sanchez.

In Fall of that year, Danny Simmons and Sonia Sanchez collaborated with Mural Arts on a Philadelphia mural entitled My Crazy Red Rooster. Sanchez selected The Red Rooster, by Danny Simmons, to inspire her to create an original haiku to accompany it on the mural wall.
